Tallahassee, FL – For Our Future Florida Communications Director Blake Williams released the following statement on Rick Scott’s state budget signing:

“Rick Scott closed the last chapter on his Governorship by once again attacking teachers and the public schools where a majority of Florida children receive their education. Governor Scott’s final budget leaves adjusted per-student spending levels still $1,000 lower than pre-recession, funnels more money into charter schools, sweeps hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars earmarked for affordable housing into other programs, protects corporate tax loopholes and fails to give most state workers a much-needed raise. All while doing nothing to address the over half of Florida counties that are still below pre-recession job levels and the nearly half of Florida families who qualify as working poor. Tallahassee’s most unproductive legislative session in twenty years ended exactly like every other session under Rick Scott: great for corporations and the wealthy, terrible for working and middle-class Floridians.”
