For Our Future Responds To Senate Vote On HB 7055

February 27, 2018

Tallahassee, FL – As HB 7055 nears a vote in its final committee stop in the State Senate, For Our Future Florida released the following statement:

“Yet again, the Republican leadership in Tallahassee is trying to ram through another huge, poorly vetted education bill that requires giving corporate welfare to private charter school companies in order to move must-pass public school funding. HB 7055 would continue to funnel millions of taxpayers dollars away from the majority of Florida’s children in public schools to unaccountable for-profit charter schools.” said Blake Williams, Communications Director with For Our Future Florida. “The fact is the best way to guarantee that all of Florida’s students, regardless of their background or where they live, have an equal opportunity to succeed is by fully-funding public education and ensuring teachers have a voice. The educators who keep our children safe don’t deserve these kinds of attacks. The public schools that shelter our communities during storms don’t deserve to be undermined. Lawmakers should stop placating Richard Corcoran’s crusade against public education, stop funneling taxpayer dollars into Richard Corcoran’s pockets, and take a stand for Florida’s children by voting “NO” on HB 7055.”
