For Florida’s Future Calls on Governor Scott to Extend Voter Registration Deadline

October 7, 2016

“Governor Scott: Don’t make Floridians choose between safety and democracy.”

Plantation, FL – As Floridians seek shelter from Hurricane Matthew and start the process of rebuilding, For Florida’s Future Press Secretary Blake Williams released the following statement on the current October 11 voter registration deadline:

“Voting is a crucial pillar upon which our entire democracy rests. We must strive to make every reasonable effort to ensure citizens can be registered in time to participate, and by doing so strengthening our democracy. Governor Scott should put to rest the growing impression that he is putting his role as chairman of the pro-Trump Rebuilding America Now Super PAC ahead of the interests of our democracy by his refusal to extend the voter registration deadline.”

“Don’t make Floridians choose between safety and democracy. Allow our neighbors to rebound from this storm without losing their voice in deciding how we invest in rebuilding their communities and moving our country forward together.”
