MoveOn, For Florida’s Future, Launch Digital Ad Buy To Hold Marco Rubio Accountable For His Continued Support Of Donald Trump

October 4, 2016

Broward, FL – With the recent news that Donald Trump skirted the U.S. embargo against Cuba and the not at all surprising response from Marco Rubio that he’s not changing or rescinding his endorsement of Trump in any way, For Florida’s Future and MoveOn.org are launching a new paid digital ad campaign starting Tuesday against Marco Rubio using his own words.

The ad opens with Rubio’s remarks to a Republican crowd in Sarasota, FL: “We have to make sure that Donald wins this election” and asks “Really, Marco, this guy?” before playing Trump’s denigrating comments about people “from all over”: “You have people coming in, and I’m not just saying Mexicans, I’m talking about people that are from all over that are killers and rapists and they’re coming into this country.”

Rubio, the Tea Party’s favorite son from 2010, has not yet found a Trump comment or position that he believes disqualifies Donald Trump from being the next President, and as the video shows, Rubio is now riding Trump’s alt-right wave at Republican gatherings, hoping to skate into a second term of a work-free paycheck. But the ad, and Rubio’s remarks, may also come as a surprise to the majority of Floridians (nearly two-thirds) who remain unaware of Rubio’s continued support of the bigoted, nativist, embargo-skirting, tax-dodging Republican nominee.

The digital ad blitz from For Florida’s Future and MoveOn.org also follows For Florida’s Future’s recent billboard launched next to Rubio’s Miami senate office, which will run for four weeks, and which also highlights Trump’s offensive remarks about the Latino community and the hypocrisy of Rubio’s continued support for the GOP nominee.
